Willem, hoe is het met je conditie voor
je pelgrimstocht ? Ik vind het heel bijzonder dat jij
zo iets van plan bent. Nooit gedacht. Wel heel goed. Het
moet wel een hele klus zijn, dat realiseer je je toch
wel ? Ik had zo'n idee van dan loop je daar lekker met
je broer en kun je over van alles en nog wat kletsen.
Geweldig. Maar het schijnt dat het vreslijk druk is en
dat je bijna in files loopt. Je slaapt met verschillende
mensen in overnachtingsmogelijkheden. Misschien doen jullie
het luxer en gaan jullie van hotel naar hotel? We horen
het graag. In mei /juni is het behoorlijk warm, maar dat
ben je wel gewend. Tineke, weet jij al wat je in die periode
gaat doen ? Op de fiets er achteraan ? Of blijf je 'lekker'
in Nederland ? Komen jullie weer terug naar Nederland
na die tocht ?

Wow! What an eventful few days you have
had. Unbelievable. We really enjoyed reading the first
installment of your log book - can't wait for the rest.
Kris and I hope that the rest of the journey goes well
- once you are through the mountains it will surely be
smooth sailing. Sounds like you are eating better on the
trail (e.g. 5 course meals and bottles of wine) than we
are here at home in Chicago. Look forward to seeing the
pictures upon your return. Everything is going well in
Chicago - Kris and I are enjoying a 3 day Memorial weekend
and will be barbequing with friends on our back deck throughout
the weekend (though the weather is a bit cold these days).
Keep up the hard effort and remember that you are representing
God and country! Remember: If you ain't Dutch, you ain't

wat een tocht! ik ben niet jalours op
jullie. Ik heb erg met Tineke te doen. Maar ik ben heel

We hebben hem nog niet helemaal gelezen maar dat gaan

Ik heb net het adres van Willem (denk
ik) gekregen en ik was erg benieuwd! Erg leuke en mooie
webpage en gaaf om te lezen hoe anderen de Camino ervaren.
Ik ben in Narbonne (zuidoost frankrijk) begonnen, toen
naar de westkust gefietst (biarritz) EN VAN DAARUIT DE
BERGEN OVER NAAR BURGOS. EN NU dus in Portomarin. In 2
dagen ben ik in santiago, als het weer mee zit....op de
fiets dus....En dan nog verder naar Portugal om vrienden
te bezoeken! Nog heel veel suc6 met lopen tot aan santiago
en misschien tot ziens.

aangehouden. Onvoorstelbaar!!! En wat een mooie prestatie.
Ik had niet gedacht dat je het toch uiteindelijk zo makkelijk
zou volbrengen. Voor Jan is het misschien wat makkelijker,
gezien zijn jarenlange loopervaring. Maar toch is dit
ook voor hem niet vergelijkbaar met een marathon, denk
ik. En hebben de dames zadelpijn. Ook voor hen is het
een hele trip. Wim, ik wist niet dat ik met je kon mailen
via deze manier. Jouw bericht kwam dus net op tijd. Hoe
gaat het nu verder.? Jullie komen, dacht ik, niet meer
naar Nederland. Hoe gaan Jan en Andrea nu naar huis? gelijk
per plane of toch nog eerst wat anders. En gaan jullie
nu rechtstreeks naar de States.? Laat het even weten.
Bel ons anders even. Ik ben benieuwd hoe jullie je nu
voelen. Gefeliciteerd in ieder geval met deze prestatie.

Erna en ik vertrekken zaterdag 22 juni naar Genève om
van daaruit naar Le Puy-en-Velay te lopen (de GR65), nadat
wij vorig jaar de Jakobsweg door Zwitserland liepen van
Konstanz naar Genève. Over een paar jaar zullen wij op

enjoying parts at a time. Today I viewed the slide shows,
and can't tell you how impressed I am! Each one of your
photographs is a masterpiece and better than the last.
I'm enjoying your diaries too. This trip sounds like a
once-in-a-lifetime experience (obviously), and I'll bet
you're glad you made the plans and the effort and took
the plunge, so to speak.
I've always suspected that that part of the world was
something to see, and your historical perspective with

people how it's REALLY "done", this website

Oh! That picture with the lady in the thong panties and
white gauze skirt (in the Santiago slide show) was that
for real? Do people really dress so cavalierly in venerated
old Europe? How very exciting. And tell me all about the
"scarecrow" with the nipples in the "Nature"
slide show--who is she and how did that occur?
